Book #1 Komi Can't Communicate  (Volume 1) By: Tomohito Oda Category : This my Romance book. Target Audience : Middle and High Schoolers Summary : This is the first volume about a wallflower boy named Tadano helping a girl named Komi overcome her apparent social anxiety, leading to them building a meaningful relationship. Why I Chose This Book : This is kind of a special pick for me because, this is the first manga I've ever read, and it's about socially awkward individuals having success being romantically involved, which is important to me as someone who's never had a relationship due to a lack of social skills and anxiety. Evaluation : I'll be evaluating this book based on: Characters, Plot, and Content. Characters : This series has dual protagonists: the titular high school girl, Shoko Komi, and a high school boy she meets named Hitohito Tadano. There's a large and colorful cast of other characters throughout the series, but for this assignment, I'll o...

Book #1 Sleepless Knight By: James Sturm, Andrew Arnold, and Alexis Frederick-Frost Genre and Category : This is a fantasy **graphic novel** , my chosen category for this review. Target Audience : PreK-K Summary : This is a short story about the shenanigans of a child knight looking for his lost teddy bear during a camping trip. Why I Chose This Book : When deciding on a graphic novel, I wanted to assure that I review a standalone title, as a lot of graphic novels are serial, and consequently are better enjoyed when a reader is up to date on the overarching plot. This title seemed like a simple enough standalone to fit the bill. Evaluation : I will be evaluating this book on: Illustrations, Setting, and Content/Themes.   Illustrations : The illustrations in this book are visibly hand-drawn, especially in the very front and back of the book wherein there are pages that demonstrate each character being drawn. The level of art being applied here is quite simple, so simple that ...

Book #1 Do Not Bring Your Dragon to Grandma's By: Julie Gassman and Andy Elkerton Genre and Category : This is a modern fantasy that I read in digital format . Target Audience : Pre-K to K students. Summary : As stated above, this is a silly modern fantasy that tells its young readers why they shouldn't bring their hypothetical pet dragons over to a visit to their grandmother's house. It has no real plot, just a set of silly scenarios. Why I chose this book: Firstly, the rest of the books I chose for this collection of reviews are for slightly more mature children, so I figured I ought to have at least one that was for younger readers. It also works, because children nowadays are online a lot, often more than they should be, so I wondered what reading this book would be like online as a modern child would. Evaluation : I will be evaluating this book based on it's Illustrations, Content/Themes, Language, and the experience of reading it digitally. Content/Themes : The ...
